DIBS Requirements

Opportunities for DIBS (Cleaning, working events, etc.) may change as the year progresses. With SAYHA being the primary lease holder of the Spooner Civic Center building, it takes all of us to make it run....smooth, clean and in a respectful manner.

DIBs and fundraising are a requirement as a registered skater of Spooner Area Youth Hockey. Each skater registered is required to complete 20 hours for Bantams, squirt and peewee, and 15 hours for Mite 2, and 10 hours for Mite 1 of DIBs which may be completed by the skaters, parents/guardians, or another family member. The fundraising requirements for each level are listed on the web page. DIBs are necessary for the association to keep the civic center up and running so we can continue to have hockey here in Spooner. DIBs/Fundraising also help keep our registration costs low. You do have the option to buy out of DIBs/Fundraising when you register for $1000. You have one year to complete these requirements starting 9/1 and ends 8/31.

Failure to complete DIBs/Fundraising

If you do not complete your DIBs/Fundraising requirement in the timeframe of 9/1 to 8/31 of the current season registered, you will be required to pay SAYHA back at a rate of $25 per incomplete hour. If fundraising minimums are not met, you would be expected to pay SAYHA what SAYHA would have profited from your minimum sales requirement.

Team Responsibilities

Team responsibilities are different than DIBs/Fundraising. Team responsibilities include all the jobs necessary to run home games and tournaments. These responsibilities include time clock, score sheet, music/announcing, concessions, Zamboni driver (must be trained), penalty box, locker room monitor (must have safe sport and background through USA hockey), set up and clean up, and any other task needed to run the rink during games. First team of the day sets up the rink, last team of the day is responsible for clean up

Tournaments are especially important for everyone helping. Each team that has a home tournament will have to be at the rink long hours and is expected to help throughout each day.

Team managers will send out a sign-up sheet before home games and tournaments to sign up for the needed jobs.
